Karen Alpert Author and Influencer (Baby Sideburns)
“How people turn out starts in the home. I truly believe 98% of the world is good…people who want to raise their children as kind adults, who think of other people’s feelings, who are inclusive, not exclusive and anti-racist.”
Karen Alpert is the ridiculously self-deprecating writer of the blog Baby Sideburns.
She has a half million followers on social media where she entertains parents (and even a few non-parents) every day. If you’re tired of seeing moms who post pictures of their perfect, smiling, well-behaved kiddos on social media, Baby Sideburns shows the “other” side of parenting–the messy, scary, painful, challenging, unpredictable side. In other words, reality.
In 2013 Karen Alpert wrote and self-published her first book, I Heart My Little A-Holes, which made it to The New York Times best seller list and the Top 100 on Amazon the first week it was out.
It was then bought and republished by HarperCollins. In 2016 HarperCollins published her second book I Want My Epidural Back, which also climbed quickly to the Top 100 on Amazon. In 2021, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt is publishing her third book, Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be A-Holes.
She lives with her two amazing kiddos and a very forgiving husband who lets her publicly share their crazy lives on the Internet every day.
